Remembering The Sacred in Your Transformation Work

Stories, Connections, and Experiences

We don’t need to rely on the shiniest, latest digital media marketing gimmick—we have even more powerful, nuanced, and timeless tools at our disposal.

We tell stories. Stories that resonate and inspire others. Stories of transformation, of breakthroughs, of clients finally achieving their goals. Stories that are true, because we made them true with our powerful modalities and our life-changing services.

We make connections. Humans are deeply yearning for authentic connection, to be seen and known. After 30 years of true authentic connection in my daily work, I yearn for it and require it as much as my clients do.

Why is this important?
On the deepest level, people are investing in you to believe that they can get their wish come true even when they are struggling to believe in it themselves. Your work uplifts them. You are a wish keeper. The holder of their deepest heart's desire and you hold that vision of who they want to become until they can step into it themselves. This is sacred and priceless.

We create experiences. Experiencing a profound shift in mindset, feeling the release of limiting beliefs, discovering hidden potential. These transformative experiences are the heart of our work. As healers, coaches, and hypnotherapists, we can intentionally design these experiences for our clients, ensuring they are deeply meaningful and impactful.

Our entire practice thrives when we embrace this approach. Our offerings, our interactions, and our client relationships all contribute to a powerful and authentic brand. It's about the sacred role we play, the profound impact we create, the lasting transformations we facilitate, and the genuine connections we foster.

Stop Selling Sessions, Start Selling Emotions

Imagine a world where your coaching or hypnotherapy practice is overflowing with ideal clients. Where your services are not just seen as a service, but as the key to helping them achieve a desired feeling.

Stop Selling Sessions, Start Selling Emotions: An Effective Approach for Coaches and Hypnotherapists

Imagine a world where your coaching or hypnotherapy practice is overflowing with ideal clients. Where your services are not just seen as a service, but as the key to helping them achieve a desired feeling.

Think about this for a moment.

  • A health coach ultimately helps someone to feel more energetic. How? Through nutrition plans, exercise guidance, and perhaps supplements.

  • A weight loss coach helps someone to feel good in their body. How? Through dietary guidance, exercise plans, supplements , and potentially hypnosis for emotional eating.

  • A hypnotherapist helps someone overcome anxiety and feel more calm. How? Through hypnosis, NLP, and other therapeutic techniques.

  • A hypnotist helps someone improve their sleep so they feel more energetic and mentally clear. How? Through personalized hypnosis recordings for nighttime use.

How you help them arrive at these desired feelings is secondary in your marketing and sales discussions.

After many years in the business of being a transformation entrepreneur, I had stacked so many certifications that my brain would melt down when asked what I do. 'I am a clinical hypnotherapist, I am a personal development coach, I am a collaborative law divorce coach. I am an NLP practitioner...' and the list went on. Honestly, people don't care about the titles or the number of certifications you have. They want to know that you understand their pain, that you truly see them, and that you have a clear path to guide them to the feeling they deeply desire.

In short, people don't buy coaching or hypnotherapy sessions. They don’t buy the The "Unicorn Sparkle" Transformation Technique or the The "Brain Candy" Binaural Beats Method:) They buy the feeling produced through the transformation work. They yearn for:

  • A deep sense of peace and tranquility.

  • The unshakeable confidence to conquer their goals.

  • A life filled with meaningful connections.

  • The freedom to live authentically and joyfully.

These are the universal human desires that drive them to seek your guidance.

Shifting Your Focus: From "How" to "Why"

Instead of focusing on your unique approach or the technical aspects of your services, shift your messaging to emphasize the "why" behind your work.

  • Instead of: "My signature coaching program utilizes..."

    • Focus on: "Imagine waking up each day feeling a sense of profound calm and inner peace."

  • Instead of: "Hypnotherapy can help you understand..."

    • Focus on: "Experience the thrill of unlocking your full potential and living a life of purpose."

Reframing Your Offerings: A Journey of Transformation

Position yourself as a guide: You're not just a coach or hypnotherapist; you're a trusted guide who empowers individuals to achieve their deepest desires.

Tell compelling stories: Share client testimonials that highlight their emotional transformations – how they felt before and after their work with you.

Use evocative language that paints a picture of a transformed life: "Embrace a life of effortless joy," "Unlock your inner radiance," "Experience the freedom to live authentically."

Remember: Your services are a gateway to a more fulfilling life.

Personally, I believe that combining coaching, hypnosis, and other modalities to unlock the subconscious is essential for achieving the fastest and best results.

By focusing on the emotional transformations you help clients achieve, you'll not only have a clearer vision of what success looks like for them, but you'll also be able to create a powerful message that resonates deeply and attracts those who are truly ready to embrace change.

Embrace this new approach, and watch your practice flourish.

Key Takeaways:

  • Focus on client emotions.

  • Sell the transformation, not just the service.

  • Position yourself as a guide on a journey of transformation.

  • Use evocative language and compelling storytelling.

By making this shift in your marketing and communication, you'll not only attract more ideal clients but also build a more meaningful and impactful practice.

The Power of Seasonal Programs for Your Coaching or Hypnosis Business

By strategically planning and implementing seasonal programs, you can enhance your business, increase client engagement, and achieve greater success.

I recently launched my Dry January group program, a timely offering given the common desire for a fresh start in the new year. This experience reinforces the value of planning and offering seasonal programs, a strategy I've found highly effective for my business.

January and alcohol reduction go hand-in-hand, but this is just one example. Other successful seasonal programs I've implemented include:

  • Back-to-School Boost: Promoting my flagship Hypnosis Certification Level 1 in August and launching it in mid-September, perfectly timed for when parents and professionals find themselves with slightly more free time after the initial school rush.

  • Spring into Wellness: Offering weight loss programs in April or May, capitalizing on the renewed energy and motivation that often accompanies the arrival of spring.

The Power of Seasonal Programming

  • Increased Relevance: Aligning your programs with seasonal trends and consumer behavior makes them more appealing and relevant to your target audience.

  • Enhanced Marketing: Seasonal promotions naturally tie into existing cultural events, providing ready-made marketing hooks.

  • Improved Planning and Execution: Planning ahead allows for thorough preparation, from content creation and marketing materials to logistics and client support.

  • Predictable Revenue Streams: Consistent seasonal offerings can create a predictable revenue stream, making budgeting and financial planning more manageable.

Tips for Planning Seasonal Programs

  • Identify Seasonal Opportunities: Analyze your niche, target audience, and local events to pinpoint potential seasonal program themes.

  • Plan Ahead: Start planning your next season's programs well in advance (e.g., planning your summer programs in the winter).

  • Create a Content Calendar: Develop a content calendar for each program, outlining social media posts, email newsletters, and other marketing materials.

  • Leverage Existing Holidays: Use holidays and seasonal events to create engaging and relevant program themes.

  • Gather Client Feedback: Regularly solicit feedback from past clients to refine and improve your seasonal offerings.

Seasonal Program Ideas

  • For Wellness Coaches:

    • Spring Detox: A program focusing on whole foods, movement, and stress reduction.

    • Summer Body Reboot: A program combining fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness for beach body goals.

    • Fall Fitness Challenge: A program to help clients stay motivated and active during the colder months.

  • For Hypnotherapists:

    • New Year, New Habits: A program to help clients break old habits and form new, positive ones.

    • Stress Less, Live More: A program to help clients manage stress during the holiday season.

    • Summer Sleep Solutions: A program to address insomnia and improve sleep quality during the warmer months.

By strategically planning and implementing seasonal programs, you can enhance your business, increase client engagement, and achieve greater success.

I encourage you to take some time this month to brainstorm and plan your next season's offerings. Happy planning!

What Can Food Trucks Teach Entrepreneurs About Success?

While this story is about the food truck business, it's a powerful lesson for any entrepreneur.

Who Here Loves Food Trucks?

Food trucks have exploded in popularity here in the Charleston area. We've got food truck festivals, food truck roundups, and more food trucks than you can shake a stick at! It’s become a real foodie scene.

So, I recently sat down with a guy named Jason, a food truck builder and consultant. Jason has been in the food and beverage industry for years, and he's seen it all. He can spot a successful food truck a mile away.

The Secret to Food Truck Success

I asked him, "How do you know which food trucks will make it and which won't?"

His answer was simple but profound: "You gotta pick one thing you make remarkably well and sell that and mostly that from your truck."

He explained that when you're at a food truck festival, people have a lot of choices. They're more likely to line up for the truck that specializes in one thing – like burgers or lobster – and does it exceptionally well. If you've got a killer burger recipe or a unique lobster roll, people will come back for more.

Jason shared a cautionary tale about a client who spent over $100,000 on a food truck but went out of business in a year. Why? Because they tried to do too much. Their menu was a mile long, from seafood to burgers to tacos. They couldn't cook fast enough, and customers got frustrated.

The Power of Niche

While this story is about the food truck business, it's a powerful lesson for any entrepreneur. Picking a niche and becoming known for something specific is a winning strategy. It helps you stand out in a crowded marketplace and attract a loyal following.

So, whether you're a food truck owner, a hypnotherapist, or a coach, remember: Focus on what you do best, and do it exceptionally well.

Minimize Impostor Syndrome by Getting Clear on Your Niche

If you’re a coach or a transformation professional, you’ve probably encountered Impostor Syndrome—that pesky voice in your head questioning if you’re "good enough" to deliver real results. One of the most effective ways to quiet that voice? Getting crystal clear on your niche.

If you’re a coach or a transformation professional, you’ve probably encountered Impostor Syndrome—that pesky voice in your head questioning if you’re "good enough" to deliver real results. One of the most effective ways to quiet that voice? Getting crystal clear on your niche.

Why Knowing Your Niche is a Game-Changer

When you’re clear on the specific group of people you serve and the unique results you offer, you naturally feel more confident and credible. Here’s why:

  1. Focus on Your Strengths
If you’re new to coaching, leaning into what you’re already skilled at can make a big difference. Stick to selling coaching in areas where you already shine. This is one of the fastest ways to start feeling like an expert, even if you’re just beginning.

  2. Accelerated Learning and Specialization
If you’re stepping into a new topic or industry, niching down allows you to focus your learning. Instead of trying to be all things to all people, you can concentrate on getting up to speed in one specific area, building expertise and confidence faster.

  3. Building Authority is Easier
When you speak directly to a niche, your messaging resonates more powerfully. Your audience sees you as someone who gets them, understands their challenges, and knows the solutions. This positioning goes a long way in helping you feel—and be perceived—as an expert.

  4. Improves Your Elevator Speech
When you know your niche, crafting a compelling elevator speech becomes simple. You can confidently state who you help, how you help them, and the results they can expect—all of which help you speak with more authority and confidence.

Ready to Minimize Your Impostor Syndrome?

If Impostor Syndrome has been holding you back, the first step is to get clear on your niche. In Week 2 of our 8-Week Business Accelerator, we’ll be diving into crafting your elevator speech. Stop Spending Thousands: Nail These Essentials Before Investing in More Training or Marketing

In the coaching and personal development industry, it’s easy to feel the constant pull to invest in new certifications, skill upgrades, and marketing programs. After all, who doesn’t want to feel more qualified and have a bigger toolbox, or better yet, get more clients? I’ve been in this industry for 30 years, and trust me, I’ve spent plenty on training and marketing. Some of it was incredibly valuable, but looking back, there were essential steps I should have nailed first. These steps are crucial to building a solid foundation for your business.

Before you spend thousands of dollars on the next big thing, take a hard look at these essentials. If you haven't fully developed these areas, it’s like trying to build a house without a foundation. You may have the most beautiful rooms (or the fanciest tools), but they won’t stand without something solid underneath.

Here’s what you need to master first:

1. Your Niche

You can’t be everything to everyone. Defining your niche allows you to stand out in a crowded market. It helps you create tailored solutions that speak directly to the people who need you the most. When your niche is clear, clients feel that you get them—and they’re more likely to work with you.

2. Your Elevator Pitch

Can you explain who you are and what you offer in one or two sentences? Your elevator pitch is what you say when someone asks, “What do you do?” If you can’t quickly convey the value of your services, people won’t remember you, let alone hire you. An effective pitch is clear, concise, and sparks curiosity.

3. Basic 5-Page Website

You don’t need a complicated, expensive website, but you do need something. A simple, 5-page site that explains who you are, what you offer, and how people can work with you is enough to start. Your website is your online storefront. Even if you’re amazing at what you do, if people can’t find you online, they’ll likely pass you over.

4. Visibility Plan

How are people going to find you? This is where your visibility plan comes in. You need a strategy to get your name out there—whether through email marketing, social media, YouTube videos, paid ads, or networking. People buy from those they know, like, and trust. And if they can’t see you, they can’t know, like, or trust you!

5. Your Big Why

Why are you doing this? Your clients want to know why you’re in this business, and sharing your personal story or mission can be a powerful way to connect. This is what sets you apart from the crowd. I’ve found that sharing my “big why” has been a huge factor in getting more clients, as it helps them understand my passion and trust that I’m in this for the right reasons.

6. Your Ideal Client's Pains

Before you sell any service, you need to understand the specific pain points your ideal client faces. This is how you relate to your clients on a deeper level, showing that you truly understand their struggles. If you can articulate their pain better than they can, they’ll naturally look to you for the solution.

7. Your Ideal Client's Gains

Once you’ve nailed the pain points, focus on the gains your client will experience by working with you. What transformation do you offer? What will their life look like after they’ve worked with you? You need to paint this picture clearly. People are far more motivated by what they stand to gain than what they might lose.

8. The Specific Transformation You Offer

You need to be able to clearly articulate the specific transformation you provide. Whether it’s helping clients overcome anxiety, grow their business, or achieve personal breakthroughs, the more specific you are, the easier it is for clients to understand your value and sign up to work with you.

When you have these essentials nailed down, you’ll not only be able to attract more clients, but you’ll also make better decisions about what trainings and marketing strategies will actually help you grow. Without this foundation, you’re just throwing money at a problem without fixing the root cause.

If you’re looking to grow your coaching or personal development business and want help putting these building blocks into place, I invite you to join my free Facebook group, Transformation Trailblazers. What's NEXT for Personal Growth in 2025? A New Era of Transforming Lives Is Here

The Future of Personal Development Industry: A New Era of Transforming Lives Is Here

I’ve been privileged to spend the last 30 years helping people transform their lives through coaching and hypnotherapy. In that time, I’ve seen the field of personal development grow, evolve, and shift in remarkable ways. As someone dedicated to personal transformation, both personally and professionally, I’m excited to share with you what I believe is the future of this incredible field—and how it can impact you, whether you're looking to achieve your own goals or help others achieve theirs.

The world is rapidly changing, and so is the way we approach transformation. More than ever, people are searching for rapid, effective, and lasting solutions to overcome the blocks that hold them back—whether those blocks are conscious or rooted deep within the subconscious.

In my view, the next wave of personal development will be led by skilled coaches, hypnotherapists, and transformation professionals who understand how to get results by working on both levels of the mind.

While hypnotherapy is a powerful tool to help unlock and clear subconscious blocks, it’s just one of many modalities I’ve trained in over the past 30 years to assist clients in harmonizing their conscious and subconscious minds. By drawing from a broad range of techniques, I help people achieve what I call “whole-brained problem solving”—a way of addressing challenges with both logical and intuitive aspects of the mind working in synergy. This leads to profound breakthroughs and lasting change.

This specialized approach, combining the best of coaching, hypnotherapy, and other transformation modalities, allows practitioners to systematically uncover and clear counterproductive beliefs, helping clients align their conscious goals with their subconscious programming.

I’m incredibly excited to not only be helping my clients take their my focus to mentoring and supporting other coaches, hypnotherapists, and transformational professionals—like you—so that we can work together to help as many people as possible live the lives they’ve always dreamed of.

Whether you’re already a coach or hypnotherapist, or you’re simply curious about how to unlock more of your potential, I’d love to connect. Here’s how:

  • Book your own coaching and hypnosis hybrid session with me to unlock your personal goals and discover the power of this approach firsthand. This will also help you to understand how various modalities pair together to create powerful, transformational sessions.

  • Join my new Professional Facebook group for aspiring and practicing transformation professionals. This group is all about growing your confidence, mastering new skills, and connecting with a community of passionate change-makers like you.

My dream has always been to help as many people as possible create their best life—either directly or by empowering the next generation of transformational professionals to do the same. Together, we can make a bigger impact than ever.

Looking forward to seeing you in this new chapter!

With warmth and gratitude,
Rebecca Taylor Shaw

will chatgpt replace humans in the field of clinical hypnosis?

Artificial intelligence has been making its presence felt in every corner of the digital world, from composing music to writing term papers. But when it comes to crafting the perfect hypnosis script for a client, human hypnotists still hold the ultimate prize. While ChatGPT may be able to churn out a script or two, there are plenty of reasons why it just won't match up to the human touch. Buckle up, as we dive into the fascinating and informative world of AI-generated hypnosis scripts.

To give you my background, I’ve been a full-time Certified Personal Development Coach and Clinical Hypnotherapist for over twenty-seven years. Frequently, people seek out my help when counseling, sports psychology or life coaching falls short of assisting in helping them to get unstuck. As a former software developer and engineer, I love the idea of anything new and “techie.” I wanted to see for myself what AI could do for me, my clinical hypnosis students, or my clients in my practice.

Overall here are my conclusions from the experience:

The Personal Touch:

The power of a personal hypnosis session when working in a one-to-one session lies in its ability to resonate and connect with the individual. ChatGPT, while highly advanced, is still just a machine, lacking that ever-elusive human element of personalized care that I believe makes all the difference in success with clients.

Every individual is unique, and so should their hypnosis suggestions. While ChatGPT is pretty good at producing generic scripts, it might struggle to capture the nuances that hold you back from creating new beliefs and behaviors. It might whip up a script about overcoming the fear of spiders, but it doesn’t have the tools to identify the root cause of your fear which can influence a hypnotherapist’s approach and be the lynchpin to whether or not your hypnosis is successful. In other words, it doesn’t know whether your fear is related to a real experience with a spider or the Brady Bunch episode where the tarantula crawls on Bobby’s chest and terrifies him and you! The two scenarios would call for two very different approaches to overcome the same fear.

Effective Verbiage:

A human can take specific verbiage and integrate it into the hypnosis session. The subconscious mind responds best to its own vocabulary and the meanings that one attribute’s to particular words and phrases that can make the hypnosis more acceptable to the subconscious mind. But ChatGPT's sentences are robotic. It might create a script that makes sense, but there's a good chance the lingo isn’t yours and some of the suggestions may even be disagreeable to you.

One of my students who is training with me to become certified in hypnosis is a former college basketball coach. We asked ChatGPT to write out a script to help a basketball player improve their shooting percentages. Several of the sentences used “incorrect and outdated basketball lingo” as she put it and many of them were phrased in the negative which is a huge “no-no” in the world of effective hypnosis.

The Power of Experience:

A good hypnotherapist and coach draw from their expertise, personal experience, and intuition. ChatGPT may have a wealth of data at its disposal, but it can't replicate the deep understanding that comes from years of professional experience where human behavior reveals patterns. Plus, AI hypnotists might struggle with everyday human experiences like waiting in line at the DMV, untangling headphones, or trying to find the end of a roll of tape. It's those little things that make us relate to each other as human, after all. And from my experience, people choose to get services, in part, because the person they hire appears to truly care.

The Art of Improvisation:

This one is huge!! During a hypnosis session, the ability to improvise is crucial. A human hypnotherapist can gauge reactions and adjust what’s happening in the session accordingly, and even throw in an impromptu joke to lighten the mood. ChatGPT, on the other hand, might just keep repeating the same script, stubbornly trying to tell you things that don’t resonate with you.

Conclusion:

While ChatGPT and other AI systems are powerful tools, they still have a long way to go when it comes to crafting truly impactful and personalized hypnosis scripts and looking at your situation as a whole. For now, human hypnotists continue to reign supreme, providing the empathy, personal touch, insight, experience, and improvisation that make hypnosis a transformative experience. So, until ChatGPT can truly understand the frustration of stepping on a jellyfish barefoot, we'll stick with our trusty human hypnotists.
